Sick Day
Sadly, today I wasn't feeling well and couldn't go to school. In class we were supposed to be doing a test. This test is on using the program Dreamweaver. For the past few days we have been using this program to create practice web pages. We have made practice web pages about sharks, and cooking with herbs. This is generally pretty easy to do. However, there were some things that were a little complicated to learn. Recently we learned how to create rollover buttons. It's a very neat effect, but there are quite a few steps to remember. I'll probably have to write my test tomorrow, and hopefully I'll be able to remember all of the steps. Other than that I'm sure that the test will include linking web pages to text and graphics and it will include creating some form of chart. Sometimes on tests my mind end ups blanking and I really don't want that to happen...so wish me luck!!!

Life is now MUCH Easier...Thank You Dreamweaver!
For the past few days in class we learned how to create a website using Adobe Dreamweaver CS3. It's MUCH easier than typing out all the html codes. I really enjoyed using this program, and I know that this program will be useful in the future. We learned how to insert images and create text. We also learned two different ways to create charts. The first way was pretty basic. We did a few activities to help us practice using this program and create these charts. The other way of creating charts that we learned was very interesting. It was a bit more complex but I liked it because you could get really creative with it. Another very helpful trick that we learned was how to insert charts and documents into Dreamweaver, without having to retype everything out. This program makes creating websites so much easier. It's good that we did learn the html codes. It gave us a general knowledge of how to create websites. However, I don't think i want to use html codes anymore! They can be stressful and annoying to remember. For the most part I think I understand how to use the Dreamweaver program. I'll still need to practice using it a few more times. Sometimes it can get confusing with remembering how to use all of the programs that we use in class. There's so many that I find it very helpful to sometimes go back to some of the programs we used in the past to refresh my memory when I have spare time.

Critiquing and Getting Organized!
Yesterday in class is when i got to present the affect that I found on Adobe Fireworks. I was a bit nervous at first since i had to teach the whole class, but it ended up going well. I got 95% on it...score! Today in class we just finishing up our website evaluation assignment, which I completely for got at home. I was in such a rush this morning that I left it on the kitchen counter instead of remembering to put it in my school bag. For this assignment we had to critique two high school websites. One had to be the St. Jean de Brebeuf School website and the other could be any high school in the world. It was interesting to browse through all the different high school websites throughout the world. The other website that I ended up critiquing was The Perse School in Cambridge, England. This site was very well organized and attractive. They also included a lot of information about the school and included many pictures. Our school website also included a lot of information but it wasn't very consistent. This is because so many different students have their own style on creating a web page. Another thing that I noticed is that our school web site's pictures were often distorted looking. This information will be very useful to me when I have to fix one of the web pages on my own. I can consider adding things that I saw from some of the other high school websites that I saw. This week I'll have to start thinking about what pages I want to fix. I will also have to decide what school events I want to take pictures at so we can add new updated pictures to the school's website.

Thank Goodness!
Today in class I was successful in figuring out how to work more tricks on the Fireworks Photoshop program. I was beginning to panic, because I wasn't able to find a lot of neat tricks that I liked. The trick that I will be showing the class on Tuesday deals with masking and creating faded image silhouettes. This is very useful when adding text to a picture or creating an advertisement. To ensure that I know how to demonstrate this trick properly to the class, I'll have to practice doing it a few more times. For the most part I'm confident about demonstrating this trick. The website that I found the trick on provided very straight forward steps that I would easily understand. The pictures also really helped to clearly explain it to me. I have posted a picture above as an example to show what this trick will allow you to do.

Understanding Photoshop
So for the past few days in class we have been learning how to use Photoshop. We've learned how to do so many tricks on how to edit a picture or text. There's also so many different programs that we've been using throughout the past couple weeks. Many of these programs are very new to me. It amazes me how much you can do on the computer. I'm glad to be learning all of this information. I can definitely see it all being very useful in the future. However, it will be a challenge to remember how to use all of the programs. Each day we learn something completely new! It's very interesting. Today in particular we were given an assignment to find a Photoshop trick that we can show the class. Most of the period was spent looking for tricks on websites and trying them out. I found quite a few cool ones, but there were some that I couldn't get to work so it was frustrating. Tomorrow we will be doing the same thing. Hopefully I will have better luck, and be able to figure out how to do all of the tricks!
